HOW TO PLAY 6+ HOLDEM (SHORT DECK)
Learning 6+ Holdem, also known as Short Deck Hold'em, is simple and fast-paced! In this variation, a smaller deck is used, consisting of 36 cards (the 2s through 5s are removed). Each player is dealt 2 hole cards, and 5 community cards are dealt in the center of the table. Your goal is to make the best possible five-card hand by combining your hole cards with the community cards.
The objective is to win the pot either by having the strongest hand at showdown or by being the last active player. Hand rankings are slightly different in Short Deck: a flush beats a full house. Additionally, the Ace can be used as both a high and a low card, allowing players to make straights like A-6-7-8-9 of 10-J-Q-K-A. The game progresses through the same stages as Texas Hold'em: preflop, flop, turn and river, with betting rounds in between.
Beginning of the Round
In 6+ Holdem, all players post an ante at the start of each hand to build the pot and create action. The dealer posts an additional ante, which acts as the blind. The betting begins with the player to the left of the dealer, ensuring dynamic and fast-paced gameplay right from the start.
Player Moves
CHECK - continues to play without betting (only if other players before him haven't raised);
CALL - pays the raised bet value;
RAISE - bets chips increasing the bet value;
FOLD - withdraws from the game in the current round without showing cards.
Each round ends with equalizing bets.
Flop
After the bets are placed, the dealer opens the flop. From now on, the small blind is always the first to act.
Turn
In the next round, the dealer reveals the turn, and the players are on the move.
River
The last round of the game is the opening of the river, where active players form the final hand. The round ends with the laying down of cards. The strongest hand wins the pot.
